Wein (Vienna)...... holla!!

Quick catch up of adventures thus far. Wein or Vienna as we call it was pretty cool (as long as you don't end up in the red light district on accident like I did...

So while I was there I met a great couple from England named Oly and Charly. They were very nice and were very insightful about the things to walk around and see, as well as places to eat. So in my wanderings in Wein, I came across archetecture that was just beyond anything that we have at home. Really I had sensory overload, there were so many different fasades (sp?) and statues where none of them where the same, all hand created and different (the picture to the left was in front of the Natural History Museum). Outside of the old town, the city had the feel of Prague, and when you got outside that toward my hostel it became a bussling city with designer stores and american fast food you could ever imagin.

One of the coolest monuments I got to see on my adventures though Wein was the statue of Mozart who got his start in this city. It was a very beautifully done statue with a great flower display in front of it (see right).

That evening I got back in and Charly, Oly, and I all went out for all you can eat sushi!! It was sooo good, there was a converer belt that ran right next to the table and you just sat and watched for whatever you wanted to come, then grab it, eat it, and repeat. I have yet to eat quite like that since I have been here. Actually on a side note I thought since I came here that I would be living on my budget and not eating alot, but holy god, I eaten like a king while being over here and while staying under budget! It rocks!

Then the next morning it was time to say good-bye to my new friends and head to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. And did you know that Wein, and Bratislava are the two closest country capitals in the world (about 40 Km apart, or for everyone back home about 25 miles). Nothing very interesting happenened on the train trip, but Bratislava was quite the place........

Ok so I don't have a ton of time, since I have been using the computer quite a bit trying to get my trip all planned for tomorrow in booking my train tickets and hostel (since this area wasn't covered by the pass I had to pay my own train tickets and book them in advance).

Anyways, I spent two days in Vienna.... the trip there rather sucked, because I missed the train and had to wait 3 hours for the next one, so instead of getting to Vienna from Prague at 8 (which is late anyways) I got in at 11pm. To add fun on top of it all I got lost and ended up in the red light district. Let me tell you how great that feeling is..... hookers yelling at you in German and all you want to do is lay down lol.

But the city was beautiful and I will have another post most likely tomorrow with a run down of Vienna and Bratislava in it complete with a couple pictures. But it is time for me to get running so people don't get angry at me. Till then!

And now it is time to leave Prague

Well I think last night was a good way of saying good bye to this amazing city....

So the other day I was wondering around the park and stumbled upon this beer garden that had the Canada vs. Russia hockey game on. So I thought that I would grab a beer and watch some hockey. After realizing that the entire place was going for Russia and I was one of 20 people who were pumped for canada I realized I just needed to find someone to talk to. So I just started chatting it up with a group of people and met a guy Jon who helps host this pub crawl. The guy was cool as hell, anyways, so I went to the pub crawl last night to find that everyone there was from Canada, Seattle, or Denver. So it was kind of fun to kick it with people from back home even though I was so far away from my city (note the people in the picture are from seattle!). But you know after a little too much fun, all of a sudden it is two guys from Victoria, BC and myself at a club and everyone has peaced out. Ahhhh!! So we have no clue where we are, but for whatever reason we are adimate about walking and that we can get back to the museum where I would know how to get home from there. There is no worst feeling when you have been walking for about 30 mins and realize you are looking at the wrong side of the castle which is a couple miles away... but after about an hour and a half of pure fun walking in the rain, I made it home safe and sound!

So now it is time to take myself to the trainstation and hit Vienna. It should be great fun!! I will hit you all when I get there. Oh and by the way this picture is of me lost in Prague... can you feel the fear ;). Cheers!!

Did you say chicken pizza or Czechen pizza.......

I love spending time with people who's first language isn't english and getting to explain slang, and correct ways to say things. One of the highlights of the trip so far was when Eva really wanted to try Czech Pizza and kept saying 'lets get some czechen pizza' which sounds alot like chicken, so when we got to a pizzaria, we were very confused when she didn't order chicken on hers........ lol. Or explaining that fish is singular and plural and not fishes.

Yesterday, we went to a village called Kunta Hora. It was very nice and peaceful there, and everything that one would think that foriegn countryside would be. Also, there is the Sedlec Oddisary, which is a small chapel for the dead. How it all shook down is that there was some dirt brought there by a priest from Isrial that was blessed and so every one in the area wanted to be buired there. Right around that time the black plague struck the area, so there was an over flow of bodies to this one small graveyard, so they just started stacking bodies in the basement of the chapel and eventually there was an impressive stack of bones. So I guess a monk thought what the hell, we will decorate this place with these poor saps their bones are all just down here. It is believed that there are the remains of 40,000 people down there.

It was really creepy walking on to the property, because once you crossed the gate you felt the air get noticably cooler, and there are headstones all around the place (very large and beautiful ones at that). Then you go downstairs of this place and there are four pyrimids of bones on the corners of the rooms that are about 10 to 12 feet high, just incredible. And there are bones all along the walls and light fixtures.

After we left there, we went to the Virgin of Mary baroque style chuch and holy shit...... that place was huge. It actually seemed quite out of place for the surrounding area. The inside was beautiful with an amazing mural painted up on the celling. Breath taking really is the only words I can use to describe it.

Well Jas and Eva left this morning so now it is back on my own again!! And I have decieded to stay in Prague another 2 days, then I think I am going to head to Vienna, Austria then Bratislava, Slovakia. But it is hard to leave when beer is only an american dollar (about 20 Kc), for a half liter of some of the best beer i have ever set my lips on. Anyways, it is time to go check in to my new hostel (I have now killed enough time at the internet cafe!!). So everyone give your mommy's a big huge for Mothers' Day since I can't! But I will catch you all later and I miss everyone.

Mmmmm Prague, drink it down.... it always goes down smooth

Well as you can guess I made it to Prague just fine and dandy :). I met up with Jas and Eva and we have been kickin' it the past couple days. It is really nice and warm here which is a nice change from Berlin where it was like I was in a bigger seattle.

I am kind of mad right now because I forgot my wire to hook my camera up because I have some amazing pictures of Prague!! It is just amazing how old and huge everything is. It is just absolutly crazy. We went on a free tour today which I didn't expect to be much, but it might have been one of the coolest things that we have done!! But you know after about 4 miles of walking the feet start getting a little tired lol. Though on the good side my knee hasn't acted up yet :).

Prague is much different from Germany, more people here speak english (or are more willing to) than in Germany, go figure right. But also, I have learned that English is pretty much the common language, so if either of the people don't understand eachother they resort to english if you are Czech, Asian, Swedish, German or whatever. It is really odd to hear so much English being spoken around me, where in Germany I was walking around and would only hear German. Which in it's self became very nice, it was an odd peaceful feeling to not understand anyone around you, because you didn't try to focus on what others where saying. But let me tell you, I have also realized that American English is the loudest sound, there can be a pub filled with people from all over, and you can here the American at the other end of the bar.

Anyways, I should probibly get back up to Jas and Eva before they get pissed and leave me here (even though the milkshake I had to buy to get free internet is really good and isn't gone yet), but everything is good, and the food is actually very good :).

Oh and on one more quick funny note. For all those that have seen eurotrip, when they go to eastern europe how everything is about 10 years behind, though a little over the top, it is soooo true. I hear music over the pop radio waves from back in the 90's. A little crazy! Or a song by Dido that premired in 2002 or something like that is one of the big hits around here right now ha ha ha. Anyways on that note, time to get my walk on! Take care!

So I have made it to Germany alive!! So it has been an interesting ride thus far already ha ha ha. Ok first thing that pisses me off about this place is that the key board has the y and the z in switched places and it really messes with your typing. Ok so yes there are things that i love about this place and others that i don't. Things that I love, the beer, the food, the people, the buildings, and the taxi drivers. Things that i don#t like, taxi prices, trying to find my hostel, being woken by angry train conductors and being woken up at 6 am by two french people doing their thing lol. Oh well it happens i guess. Anyways i will have much more later, but alas i have an early train to get in the morning for prague. So take care and i will let you know how it all goes!!
